WHO WE ARE

Our Story

In 2022, God brought together two different communities of faith.
Pasadena
The story of Pasadena City Church goes back to 1929 when the church was founded as Trinity Full Gospel Church.  A handful of people began meeting at a church on the corner of Marengo and Green in the heart of downtown Pasadena. Since 1929 the church has been located in four different buildings before ultimately landing at our current location in 2002. We are proud to have been part of the Pasadena community for almost a century. And we are expectant that our rich history is the foundation which will propel us.

South LA
This last year, a new faith community has been forming in South LA. A small team of believers began meeting neighbors, praying and serving the local community. From that sprang a small home gathering and discipleship groups in February 2022. Within the first few months, two whole families were baptized! Soon after, they were approached by the leaders of Pasadena City Church to merge the stories of these communities into one.
One Church, Two Communities
In July 2022, Angel City Church in South LA and Pasadena City Church were joined as ONE church in two communities. We share leadership, dreams, values and approach. Only God could write this story, and it is He who will be working and growing this ONE church into something new!

Our Leadership

Jared & Stephanie Hurst

As our lead pastors, Jared & Stephanie, currently lead both South LA & Pasadena locations. They have been married for 14 years, have 3 kids and are California natives. Having grown up in the church, their journey with Jesus started young, but full-time ministry began after Jared served 6 years in the Marine Corps. They moved to South LA in September 2020 to start a new faith community, and God has since expanded the dream to include the launch of a non-profit in January 2021 and leadership of Pasadena City Church in July 2022.

Our Beliefs

We stand solidly in the center of orthodox Christian teaching and practice. We come from a profound tradition of Church history and we adhere to its major creeds: the Apostle's Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Chalcedonian Creed.

We believe the bible when it says: “Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” (2 Tim 3:16-17)

With that said, there are legitimate scriptural debates in orthodox Christianity, so we focus on the major aspects and hold loosely the less critical issues. Thus, we humbly make “every effort to” be united in the Spirit as one body of Christ, rather than uniformity in all things. (Ephesians 4:3-4)
